Chrome now reads transcripts and new chat replies

The Chrome build of Varterm TTS can do more than a selection or a full page.

  • Video transcripts. On a video with captions, open Read Video Transcript. Search the whole transcript, click a line to hear from there, or click a timestamp to jump the video.
  • Jump and speed. Back and ahead from the popup or the reader panel. Speed chips run from 0.75× to 2×; changing speed re-reads the current part.
  • Optional chat auto-read. Hear new assistant replies as they finish on the AI chats you grant. Off until you turn a site on. Chrome asks then, not at install. Existing replies stay quiet. Revoking Site access turns that site off.
  • Read shortcut. Select text and press Alt+Shift+R. Chrome uses Ctrl+Shift+R to reload the page.

Install from the extensions hub or the install guide. The same voice engine as the web reader still strips markdown so headings and code fences do not get spoken as punctuation.
